Well, I suppose you could say he's still "directing."

According to his acceptance speach for Transformers winning "Best Movie" award last night at the MTV Movie Awards, he IS directing, and it begins filming TODAY.

Filming actually began late last month (granted, I know that was only a few days ago) in California, but they're currently shooting a sequence in Pennsylvania.

DreamWorks/Paramount has confirmed that the full title for Michael Bay's sequel will be Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen.

The movie began shooting on June 2nd in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. While details of the movie's plot a closely-guarded secret, expect a key character from the first movie to make a dramatic comeback and attempt to settle a score.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is scheduled for a June 26, 2009 release.

And I want Joseph Gordon-Levitt voicing Starscream this time around. It only makes sense.

I like Starscream. He's probably one of my top five favorite cartoon characters.

Can't say I'm a fan of that title, but I'll change this thread's title accordingly anyway.

It's a bit grandiose. I'd say it's a bit goofy for a sequel to that first movie.

Surprisingly, though, it's probably very true to what the film's driving plot/theme will be. Megatron will be returning and he will be seeking revenge. In that sense, I don't really see how it's "grandiose." Seems fairly appropriate, actually.

The extent of Michael Bay's entire script: "Megatron seeks revenge against Autobots."

I'm surprised someone involved with the production didn't see that and mistake it for the title.

Unlike most of you, I liked the first one, and as much as I'm looking forward to the sequel, I don't like that subtitle. As soon as I read it I thought, "so Megatron isn't really dead". Duh.

I'm sure it will be full of cool special effects, new Autobots and Decepticons, and I'll probably like it, but that title sounds stupid.

Yeah, maybe. Here's my problem with it. "Revenge" sounds like they are talking about an evil character, but "fallen" seems to imply a good character, so it seems to contradict itself.

Why not "Vengance of the Destroyed" if they are talking about Megatron? Or something else that is more creative and less confusing.

Plus its too close to "Revenge of the Sith" for my tastes.

Are they going to bring back the Mountain Dew machine robot?

And Barricade, (the cop Mustang). He was kind of cool, and there's already pictures of the stunt vehicles that will be used in TF2, so he's probably coming back. But I wouldn't be upset if he didn't.

No; no one cares about anyone other than Megatron or Starscream. But, if they brought in Soundwave... or the Constructicons, then we'd have a show.

I think it's Starscream's revenge. His revenge is to revive Megatron and then want to wrest power from him after things start going well.

Let me give Kurtzman and Orci a call...

See, I knew that was your real problem with it. :P Of course, that came to my mind immediately, too, but it doesn't bother me. I've been through too many of these instances where fans rant and rave about a sequel's subtitle for months leading up to the premiere, only to completely forget about it once they see the film. No one really cares by the end, boyo.

Barricade survived, too, though that was technically due to a fortunate edit on the part of the filmmakers. They either filmed or scripted a sequence where Optimus kills him on the freeway along with Bonecrusher, only to eliminate it entirely in the final cut. He's last seen driving on an off-ramp as the Decepticons pursue the 'bots. He will be back.

And Scorponok's also alive and well. The high-heat sabot rounds fired from that military gunship only damaged him and severed his tail. He burrowed into the ground and presumably escaped.

There are rumors that Soundwave will be in the sequel, by the way, Ipsy.

Here's what I have to say about that.

I'll catch the sequel, though I can say I'm not on any kind of countdown for it.

I'm hopiong they well "flesh" out the transformers more. There is so much more depth to some of those characters than what was portrayed in the movie. That was a big blow to me, in fact. The can waste time on advertisments, but can't explain the Starscream/Megatron sub plot. Speaking of Megatron, that part was just anti-climactic for me. I hope they make him a character worth caring about. He was in the cartoon. He had his own motives, drives, and insecurities. Rather than just scary voice and design (HE IS A GUN DAMMIT) witha one dimensional motive.

Of course, it's Michael Bay, so I knew I'd be screwed on expecting substance beyond helicopter shots...

I'm hoping for:

-Less Shia, Megan, and porduct placement
-More Transformers story and emotional substance. I want to care about the character's more that just "the cut yellow car that can't talk."

I'll keep my expectations low.

PS - "Revenge" and "Return" can only be used in third installments. Surley Bay knows that. Hope they rethink the title.
