I did not like Bay's Transformers. It is often the case that I do not like Michael Bay's movies. I sort of liked The Rock when I saw it in the theater.

All that said, I will be watching Transformers 2. Maybe I will like it. Every now and then, I like a movie I wasn't expecting to like.

I'm holding out the same hope for Watchmen, despite never having enjoyed an Alan Moore adaptation (well, I liked Swamp Thing as a kid; I ought to rewatch it) or a Zack Snyder movie.

To note my observations.

Some people here (I count four) have been baiting Sean almost daily the past 1-2 weeks, just to see his reaction. Then, when he bites and calls people on their shit (in his own obnoxious way), they cry wolf.

I'm not saying that Sean is an innocent bystander, but don't make a snide Indy 4 comment, if you don't want push back elsewhere. Don't make a snide "CGI Robot" comment, if you don't want sarcasm in return.

Sean said his peace:

Of course, no one addresses his own dissapointment in a movie he wants to love, but didn't. Instead, he gets:

He (and I) are only passive-agressively attacked when there is a negative comment on a movie. Quite often, these are comments other people agree with (e.g. Michael Bay). At that point, it just spirals out of control due to spite.

I'm hopiong they well "flesh" out the transformers more. There is so much more depth to some of those characters than what was portrayed in the movie. That was a big blow to me, in fact. I hope they make him a character worth caring about. He was in the cartoon. He had his own motives, drives, and insecurities. Sean criticizes Bay and the cheap gimicks (peeing robot), etc, and get's flamed. Told he should just "Go away" from this thread if he doesn't like it.

People such as Ulic must have selective reading, because they only seem to notice the pushback from Sean on others, not the others belittleing of Sean.

He genuinely disliked the movie, but not Transformers themselves. I also did not find the movie any good past the CGI. Even the "fight" scenes to me were questionable.

I post a negative, I don't get flamed. Seans posts a negative, people tell him to fuck off.

I disliked PH but enjoyed The Island, and I’m a big fan of The Rock, which saw Nic Cage at his neurotic best. And I saw The Island with extremely low expectations, skipping it at the theater and waiting until it came out on DVD, and I was happy overall. Scarlett was smoking hot in it and played the naïve girl who had never been out of her bubble world very well, and Ewan was charming and funny. The movie also maintained a general tongue-in-cheek sensibility throughout that made some of the suspension-of-disbelief moments more palatable since you knew the writers weren’t taking it too seriously either. At the same time, it did provide some light social commentary, parodying the frivolity of human life and our nonchalant way of accepting morally-gray solutions to problems by turning the other cheek.
