Season 6 premiered last night with an hour of yawns.

I think this show died with Michael Piller.

They have seemingly wrapped up the entire story arc (that they only ever touch upon in the first and last episodes of the season) by killing a character that they introduced into the arc just last season (and towards the end for that matter). Plus, they killed off another character that's been with us from the beginning. On top of that, everyone... EVERYone, seemed like they were phoning it in. The writers, the actors, the director. Everyone.

I was sorely disappointed.

To be completely honest, I thought this show only lasted two seasons.

When I saw the thread's subject line, I thought to myself, What? Did this show get picked back up or something?

At least three seasons were great... then the episodes started rolling in that I think were a result of a contest they had for fans to submit scripts. It may have just seemed like it... but then Piller died shortly after that, and it's never been the same since.

I'm going to keep watching, and maybe I'll be surprised, but it seems like almost everything that was good about this show died last night. They even chopped the awesome opening sequence music that was the only good thing about last season.

Plus, I didn't think it was possible, but they made Nicole DeBoer, who, even when the show was bad, was radiant, look very drab and plain and boring. She seemed like the didn't want to be there any more.

Oh, and the other part... JJ, the kid... the actor is completely different now! It's been a blonde kid for five years, and now they have some kid with brown hair and buck teeth. I felt like DJ in that flash-forward episode of "Roseanne" where he keeps saying "She's the same but she isn't the same" about Becky...

I've never watched this show because I refuse to believe that that's really Anthony Michael Hall. The guy CAN'T look like that! It's not possible!

He's aged... I don't know if it's well or not... but every once in a while you'll catch a glimpse of that bratty little kid from the 80s.

Yeah, it was hot on the heels of a few other Sci Fi names (the guy who played Dr. Franklin on B5, et. al). His son, Shawn, works on the show, too, but I think Daddy was carrying most of the weight as a showrunner... that's when it was good.

This story is to be continued... hopefully it'll pick back up and be good again, but I don't have high hopes... especially if they've really, truly 86ed the whole story arc.

So, there are three episodes of this season left and there has been one good episode. Now I'm hearing rumors of another season next year and talk that Piller Jr. wants two more after that, based on the changes they made this year.

I say, based on the changes they made this year, they should just put the show down before it gets any worse. I'm really disappointed about everything to do with this show this year.

Interesting how it's come full circle.

Which reminds me... the season finale came and went. It was slightly better than most of the episodes this year, but they made up this completely ridiculous story line where Johnny's dad wasn't really dead and has the same ability as him (that part I thought was kinda cool). Anyway, Stillson was using Johnny's father to continue the conspiracy that we thought was stopped after Janus was killed in one fell swoop in the premiere. Stillson was trying to marry Sarah so he would look better in the eyes of the public and get elected president.

Oh yeah, JJ's abilities are starting to manifest too. He saw, when he touched Stillson, the armageddon vision that Johnny always used to see.

Oh yeah, TOM SKERRIT was Johnny's dad. That made me chuckle; not sure why. Malcolm McDowell should've played him, if Thursty had his way...

They left it resolved at the end; Johnny and Sarah made amends (they started to drift during the season) and Johnny is going to help JJ adjust to his ability. I don't know what they're going to do next season, but I think it'd be cool if they explored how JJ sees visions differently than Johnny becase a) he's a different person and b) he's a kid. If they do that, I will still watch. If they don't, and the writing and, well, everything is as bad next season... that's it for me.
