So this is what happens to the place when I become a casual poster.

That's always been a danger looming like a shadow over everything we've built here. But things have developed that will insure security. I've just made a deal that will keep the Empire out of here forever.

Plus, I've scouted some new blood.

Can we get a tumbleweed smiley set up. There's definitely days that'd come in handy. Today would be one of those days. Every Friday would be another.

I did a little searching and found one. I emailed it to Magnum but I don't know how much emoticon customization this board allows.

Luckly I get a few days off next week, and the week after that I go to Vegas for work, (Ipsy, what club does your sister work at again? ), so I'll probably be posting a LOT that week.

I'll probably be hung-over most of the time, so they won't really want me working.

Did everyone bail for CA like an old girlfriend that calls years after a bad break-up looking to "reconnect"??

I have visited CA, but have resisted registering over there, but I do see a bunch of posts from Thursty and others. If this place is going to die, I'll head over there, but I really like our little community here and hope it continues.

Anyone listening?

I haven't jumped ship. I'm much better at playing off of others' comments than I am at generating topics, which has always been my weak spot as a forum moderator.

I recently took one of the worst vacations of my life, and will probably be chronicling it. It's more the kind of thing I would post here than the kind of thing I would post there, so when it happens, it will happen here. It may not be all that exciting a read, but I think it will do me good to get it out of my system.

That said, I will be taking a two-week-ish leave of absence until the end of March. I have another chapter due before March becomes April, and the clock is a-tickin'. I might drop in both places a couple times a week here and over on CA if I find myself ahead of schedule, but chances are I will not be finding myself ahead of schedule. After I turn in the chapter, I should have some more free time.

I wrote a little fiction during the aforementioned vacation. I might share some of that, too.

It's my intention to get this place going again once I have gained some of free time. I will be posting on CA, too, but I've invested too much time in Excelsior--and have developed too many friendships and pleasant memories--to leave it. I'll even put in my own money to see that it stays around.

(Since no one else is hangin' out, maybe we can entice msun to come back. I miss bantering with msun.)

Anyone out there? Has CA really killed this place off? If it has, can someone let me know and I'll stop coming here and will join everyone back on CA. I'm always the last to know....

I think CA sort of has. Even I seem to be coming around here less often. It's a combination of things that have kept me from visiting frequently, but part of it has been that so few people are still here, and there are so very rarely new posts.

I should make an effort to be around more. Even before CA, Ipsy and I were in large part responsible for keeping the ball rolling, conversation-wise. If one of us isn't around to bounce off the other, it leads to one-siding conversation, which leads to no conversation.

If Ipsy's not around, then there's practically no discussion about television going on. It would be nice to have Ulic back. I'm not sure if he has the freeforums address. I have his e-mail address somewhere in my Yahoo! account, but the search feature is wonky, and it won't let me search for anything that hasn't been sent to me or written by me before January of this year. I've complained twice, and the problem has been "escalated," but it still isn't fixed.

I do hope to build this place back up, even if I'm the only person writing here. In the meantime, I'm sure you'd be more than welcome to join up at CA. There are some old faces, and some new ones. Even there, it's gotten kind of slow, though. We must be getting old.

Quasar was there at the beginning, but Jack never was. I miss those guys. I befriended them on Facebook, so I still communicate with them on occasion.
