Looks like this just came out last week. I didn't pick it up, but will definitely look for it on next week's trip to the comic store. It's a 7 issue series.

Went to the comic store today. Justice League had McFarlane wannabe doing the art again, so I skipped that sucker. Picked up Incredible Hulk, Warbound #1 and What If? Civil War. Still have yet to read the finale to the Sinestro War, but I expect good things.

Oh, it's good, alright... It's damn good. They've set up some HUGE ramifications for not only the Green Lantern Corps., but the entire DCU with the events that unfold in the final issue. I'm really excited to see where they go with it.

Any takes on the recent Spidey/JMS idiocy that went down in Amazing Spider-Man #545?

Was that the One More Day storyline? I heard me some baaaaad things about that one. For myself, I haven't read any mainstream Marvel in years, other than the World War Hulk stuff, and Moon Knight.

Yeah. It's the worst decision in the Spidey universe since the Spider-Clone debacle. I can't believe JMS was one of the driving forces behind the idea, although I give full credit to that blowhard Quesada (who has gotten progressively uncooler over the years since becoming Editor-in-Chief), who has been going around saying the "change" to MJ and Peter's relationship was "vital" to keeping the character "fresh" for a whole new generation of fans.

More like they're not creative enough to write compelling stories within the context of that relationship.

But even more than the change (I'm not going to spoil it for those that don't know yet), it's HOW they did the change that irritates me. I'm getting sick of asinine reboots like these, especially in light of how vast and interconnected the Marvel U. is.

Does anyone else find it ironic that Ulic is whining about continuity and reboots and he loves Batman Begins so much?

And there's a big difference between comics continuity and movie adaptations. For one thing, it was established that BB would be an origin story that chronicled the events that would shape Wayne into The Batman. They didn't go, "Hey, we think this just isn't working out, so we're going to zap Batman with a mind-wiping beam that'll turn him back into an ordinary guy who knows nothing of what happened to him or his parents! Then we can start over!"

I haven't read "One More Day," but I can guess it was incredibly saccharine, awkwardly existential and that Straczynski has a character or two latch on to two or three "deep" phrases that are repeated four times apiece (or more).

And here's the thing:

May is incredibly fucking old. Seems to me either it's her "time," or that her constantly being dogged by super villains is not accidental. I think she's been pushing for assisted suicide for decades. It was good enough for Ben, after all.

As I understand it, Ben went from being murdered by the dude Pete let get away, to being accidentally shot by the guy's partner, which then had nothing to do with Pete letting the first guy get away. Isn't that how Spider-Man 3 spun it? So much for "With great power comes great responsibility." Man, whomever thought Raimi was the right guy for that franchise?

We don't hold Raimi accountable for Spidey 3.

Wait, did you just randomly interject something against Spidey 3 or are you saying that the comics have also changed the Uncle Ben murder the way the movie did? 'Cause if they've done that, things are even worse than I thought.

And May needs to die. Painfully. If you want to talk about storyline burdens keeping Spidey from being "fresh," May and her nigh-infinite near-death experiences guilt-tripping Peter into perpetual staleness top that list.

It wasn't random. I was responding to Thursty's comment about assisted suicide working for Uncle Ben. And I have no idea what's going on in the Spider-man comics. I've read a total of 1 Spider-man comic in the last 10 years, and it didn't even have Spidey in it. It was that 911 inspired comic.
