Crisis averted. I installed Firefox 3-something. It retains my log in, and the "remember me" box works now.

What happened is that the non-freeforums domain name (ExcelsiorNews.com) is temporarily dead (I'm seeing what I need to undead it), and the skin must have reverted back to a FreeForums default.

I'm administratin' now. I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing, but I hope to learn.

So the new skin isn't too bad, but my problem is how the F are you supposed to know where there are new posts? The old skin had nice big red notifications when there were new posts. With this new skin the only way I can tell is by looking at the date, and I'm WAY too lazy for that!

Once I have the time, I will be looking into prettifying the site and getting our big red buttons back. I assume it's simply a skin thing, but there's a chance it's a "Fuck you, Bitch! This is the new FreeForums!" thing. I looked through the skins FreeForums had to offer, and this is the only one that didn't make my eyes hurt. The next month or so is going to be brutal for me--what with work, jury duty, and chapter writing. I will have some time to drop in and make a comment or two, but I don't think I'll have the time to go through all the skins and truly familiarize myself with everything that goes with wearing the administrator hat.

I also want to see about buying the ExcelsiorNews.com domain name back, and not having to rely on FreeForums so heavily. I am currently clueless as to how all that works, but I will be getting myself clued as soon as I have the time. Maybe I'll also consider knighting one of you fellows and getting some help around here.

Not that it really matters cause NO one seems to be around anymore, but just wondering if you ever got the domain back. If people start to come back it might be good to have the domain. I tried to post last night, (from home), but couldn't remember the free forums URL, and google was useless, (who knew there were so many towns named "Excelsior" with newspapers??). I'd be willing to throw a couple bucks your way for the support of the site.

I'd also be willing to try to help spiffy this place up a bit. I don't have a lot of time, (or expertise for that matter), but I'll do what I can. I'd be disappointed to see this place die off...

I have been in a real time crunch, myself, with the dissertation and travel, recently. When things settle down (which won't be for a month or so, for which I apologize), I will do the things I have been meaning to do, including buying the domain back.

Until then, I just feel guilty when I sit down and spend time with the "responsible" stuff.

I'm sure Mags will be willing to help us out once it's time to do said stuff.
