Today's strip--a cartoon recreation of what may have been Sam Cooke's last moment on Earth--is the first in a likely series dedicated to ignoble celebrity deaths. It probably helps to know that "Joe" is Goethe and "Fred" is Schiller. It probably also helps to know that the faces are taken from an illustration of a famous Goethe/Schiller memorial in Weimar. It may even help to know that in this memorial, Goethe is clasping a laurel wreath in his left hand. Schiller, considered a literary giant but in no way Goethe's equal, is only touching the wreath with one finger.

If you were in German studies, of course, you would need nothing in the way of explanation to appreciate the strip.

I'm still willing to post the older strips. Just say the word, Folks.

I made it up when I was an undergrad. To this day, I am proud of it.

There are a lot of webcomics on the internets. They link to them at whedonesque.com sometimes, because there are a lot of fans of Buffy, Firefly, etc. out there, and some of them seem to like to write webcomics. THIS ONE, the apparent 'Non-Adventures of Wonderella', made Jack laugh.

Well, Abernathie has wheeled an admiral (should be obvious by his dress; I considered having Abernathie say, "Yes, Admiral?" but friends convinced me it would be better to have Abernathie say "Sir," since it is potentially disrespectful, and since it makes the reader have to work for it just a little bit harder) to a general hospital, and the admiral has taken umbrage.

There isn't really anything to get with the one with the kid. It's just a kid leaving his bed after bedtime to alert his parents (who are, as you may have noticed, engaged in what appears to be coitus) to his take on the prequels (ostensibly the Star Wars prequels, though it could, theoretically, be all prequels).
