Last night's episode, "1961," was excellent with a capital E.

Other plot and mythos points aside, I really want to know what happened between 1961 and the events in the graphic novels when Arthur Petrelli and Linderman served together in 'Nam.

It all makes sense now...

Thursty, I know why you like Bryan Fuller so much. It's not because you think he's a good writer. It's not because "Company Man" is one of your favorite episodes.

It's because he looks like you.



Or, at, least, he looks like what I think you look like based on the very few times I've seen a photo of you (or who I thought was you...)

I've fallen behind on the show again.

Erp! Do NOT go to Comic Book Resources, today (or, Thursty, until you've seen the Heroes finale). They posted a big spoiler. They changed the font color so you have to highlight it, but still. Just avoid it until tomorrow.

Just finished watching the finale. Spoilers below...














So, I liked it, a LOT, save one plot point. Killing Nathan. I didn't mind that they killed him, (what's the saying, "you gotta break a few eggs to make an omlette"?), I just don't like what they did after he died. So they need him to stay alive to convince the president of their plan to create a new "company", get it. Why did they need to brainwash Sylar then? They have the indestructible Claire and her blood that has been used to bring people back from the dead!!! Why not use that??? Wouldn't that have been a fuck-load easier than convincing Parkman to use his powers to try to brainwash the biggest baddie in the history of the show into thinking he's Nathan?

So that's my only gripe. Loved the rest.

When Sylar got into the limo with the president and shook his hand and then started morphing I immediately thought, "AWESOME! President Worf is a hero!!!", but when they changed it to be Peter and he said "Bet you didn't think I'd take that one.", I cheered! So cool, and one of the best lines of the show.

Interested to see what they'll do with Hiro. Will he ever get his full powers back? What about Peter, will he be able to collect powers again? Maybe he'll steal that from Nathan/Sylar next season?

Liked the preview of Chapter 5. Sets up that Sylar will be back as a bad guy, (which we could all have guessed anyway). So was that Tracy that killed the 4 people by drowning? Are we seeing the evolution of her freeze power to be more of a full control over water power? If so, that is a great explanation of the wink at the end of her "death" scene.
















Anyone else have any thoughts? Oh, and Ipsy, post the spoiler from CBR, I couldn't find it after I watched and am curious what they spoiled.

Looking forward to next season, I hope they can keep up the momentum that they got in the latter part of this volume. I've been pleased.

Teek, they removed that spoiler... they removed the whole Comic Reel in which it resided... I don't know where it went.

I loved this episode. It was classic Heroes, without the HUGE crisis they have to resolve (well, I mean, it was, kinda, but not in a blow-up-the-whole-city kinda way).

I almost jumped up and said, "Yes! Worf!" ala Geordi in Generations when Michael Dorn grabbed Sylar's hand, but when it was revealed to be Peter, I cheered just like you, Teek.

I was really mad how they handled Sylar and Nathan after that, though. The ONLY saving grace was the little teaser at the end of the episode for volume 5. Convenient plot twists aside, it does set up some good questions about what makes a person a person and it'll be cool when Sylar starts bubbling up to the surface again. Plus, Pete and Clair don't know about it, so... there should be some interesting stuff there.

I don't know if that's Tracy or Barbara. I'm not sure which would be the better story line. We never really got to know Tracy that well. One thing's for sure, Kring and Co. will not let Ali Larter go. The graphic novel, this week, shows Ali Larter in front of a half-frozen mirror on one page, so I'm leaning towards the fact that it's still Tracy. Maybe we'll get to know her better next season... though she's not as interesting as Nikki.


















That's all I've got as far as thoughts go. Did anyone watch Chuck? That was awesome, too. I'll post in the Chuck thread.

Oh, and the BTE for this week STILL hasn't been posted. They've sucked at that this year.

NEW SEASON STARTS TONIGHT.

I don't know anything about it. I'm excited, nonetheless.

I watched it, but I need to watch it again before I post anything substantial. I liked it, though.

I too liked it. I like that Claire is trying to get on with her life and go to college. Looks like she's got some 'splainin' to do next week though. Peter being a hero as a paramedic is cool too. Like that they brought in Ray Park this season! I love that guy! All those "carnies" seem pretty cool too, (and there are a couple hotties in that group). I'd like to re-watch it, but doubt I'll have time, (see my post about having the entire first season of Warehouse 13 on my DVR).

Okay, so I watched the first two episodes again last night, then the new one.

I like: Matt and Sylar. Samuel and Edgar. Hiro and Ando.

I don't like: Clair and Gretchen. It's awkward.

I wish there was more of: Bennett and Peter -- they work for me. Nathan/Sylar. The sporadic powers are fun, but let's see some real bad-ass Sylar-reasserting-himself shit, now.

I here. As I mentioned elsewhere I was out of town from Thursday to Sunday last week.

Heroes is off to a good start. I liked last night's episode. I want to know what's the deal with that Carny leader's power. He has power to create tattoos that can strangle you and ones that can turn into a compass, oh, and he can cause sink holes that swallow mansions! What the heck? Does he have multiple powers?

I personally do NOT like the Matt/Sylar stuff. Especially last night. Don't know why. Love Claire, but I think that's just cause I think she's HOT! I do agree about HRG and Peter. They seem to click on screen.

Looks like we're going to get some more on Nathan/Sylar next week.

I think Samuel is an empath. He reacted in such a way when Edgar told him he ran into Peter that leads me to believe that. It's either that, or Joseph, Samuel's brother, was.

I don't think Samuel is an empath. If he was, couldn't he gain whatever power the tattoo chick has and then he could just tattoo his own arm or leg to see whatever it was that she is "showing him"? I'd buy that his brother was one. So maybe he wants to get Peter to join the carnival to take his place?

I too wonder where Mohinder is. I LOVED his character early on, but by season 2 I hated where they had gone with him. He changed sides more often than I change my clothes!! Where was he at the end of last season?

I think he was driving a cab in New York. I'm going to have to go back and check. Doesn't he have super strength, still? I don't know. I liked where they went with him in season 2, but I didn't like where they took him last year. I understand why they thought they could do that, but I didn't like how it was executed.

I like him, though (Ramamurthy was on psych last week). I like the character. I'm sure they'll bring him back.

I keep hearing whispers of poor ratings and predictions that this'll be the last season of the show. I can't agree or disagree with that, really, except to say that the Strike of '07 REALLY hurt this show. Others died because of the strike, but this show was strong enough to weather the storm. I think though, that it wasn't strong enough to recover quickly enough and lost a HUGE chuck of viewership over the course of last year (one could blame the quality, too, but I liked last season well enough). I'm afraid that, even though the quality seems to be on the rise, it's too late for a lot of people and that's going to doom the show (especially since NBC has basically given up on creative scripted drama).

As usual your analysis seems right. It's too bad that the strike hurt it so much because the first season was SO good.

As for your claim of NBC giving up, you have to look no farther than Leno's hour per night show and the fact that they took one show off the air, (ER), and split it into 2 seemingly substandard new shows, (Trauma and Mercy). Lame.

Are you going to post your thoughts on those other shows in the other thread? I'm curious to hear what you think. I don't know if I'd call them substandard... but they're certainly unnecessary.
