I'm 1 chapter into The Golden Compass.

I'm a little over halfway through The Golden Compass, and it's becoming a fairly tedious read. The part where Lyra found the severed child and was screaming at people for taking away his dried-up piece of fish after he'd died probably would've gotten me to stop reading right there on the spot, except that I want to finish it before finally getting around to watching the movie. Oh well. I don't suppose it'll get any better before the end.

As I just told Floyd, I finished The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. It's very good.

I'm now going to adapt it into a feature.

I'm currently reading The Book of the Dead by Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child in my spare time because I heart murder mysteries set in museums, and Jakob der Lügner (Jakob the Liar) by Jurek Becker for work, which unsurprisingly is a bit of a downer.

Oh, and I think the His Dark Materials set only really got interesting with the second book, so maybe it's worth persevering? I dunno; I hesitate to recommend books to other people, knowing how often I hate books everyone else seems to love.

I guess I should've said... I read and finished Burning Chrome by Gibson. I liked it.
