I'm calling it (and I'm sure Ulic will join me) the breakout hit of the season. Chuck premiered on Monday, September 24th and we've seen two solid episodes up to this point. Here's the discussion so far:

This is one of those rare shows that stretches all bounds of logic and common sense yet still manages to be appealing. I mean, you don't really care that the government would never allow some guy subconsciously carrying all their secrets to continue living with his family, much less brush off a near-catastrophic kidnapping and helicopter landing by said guy with a "Meh, well as long as we can keep an eye on him, he can stay where he is."

You don't care because the show is just so much fun.

I forgot to mention yesterday that one of the cooler moments from Monday's episode was when Chuck began to spout off a litany of government secrets that included: "Oceanic Flight 815 was shot down..." Nice little Lost reference. The writers must be fans. Did you catch that, Ipsy?

No, I didn't catch that. I don't watch Lost. That is pretty cool, though.

Ulic, I think you and I are the only ones that watch this show, and, thusly, give a shit about this thread. What did you think of last night's episode?

It was fun, and I thought the last little exchange between Chuck and Sarah at the end was great.

Hey, I actually caught some of the second episode when it was rerun. I think it was on USA on Saturday. And I caught most of the pilot on reruns a week or so before. I think it's a decently funny show. The female agent is hot, and not in a Hollywoodsish replicant-off-the-machine-line-with-strangely-brown-plasticine-skin way. I like it that she has canine teeth. I like Adam Baldwin: he makes me laugh. Chuck overloading the computer with pornographic pop-ups at the end of the first episode was pretty funny, and I'm curious to learn more about what happened to get Chuck kicked out of college. I'm a little confused about what exactly kicks in Chuck's memory, though. In the last episode he doesn't recognize the chick as the arms dealer until it's convenient for the plot: weak.

I caught the first ep on a rerun after the Heroes rerun, and I couldn't find my tape for the entire Monday night for the 2nd ep, so I had to watch it online (where unfortunately it's a tad blurry. NBC certainly isn't putting in on par with Heroes just yet). So far I like it. Adam Baldwin should've been enough to put it on my radar to begin with, so I'm kind of pissed I skipped over it at first. And that blonde is smokin'. But yeah, her front 2 teetch could definitely tear out your jugular.

I enjoyed it, as always. Yvonne is already great eye candy so the hot redhead spy was an added bonus this week. Damn I love hot chicks in HD.

Morgan needs to die, though. Painfully.

Just a heads-up: Chuck is all-new tonight. They had two more episodes left over so I believe tonight's and next week's will be the last two of the year.

There's actually 2 new Chucks on tonight: one before and one after Celebrity Apprentice. I can't imagine why NBC wants to blow both new episodes in one night, but there you go.

I'm glad you mentioned that, otherwise I definitely would've missed it. But that is kind of odd that they're showing both tonight.

Hmm it appears my DVR only picked up one episode. Wonder why?

Chuck (along with Life) was picked up for the 08-09 season!

NBC has picked up the back nine episodes of the second season of "Chuck," reports Variety.

Also Wednesday, the network renewed summer reality hit "America's Got Talent" for a fourth season.

"Chuck's" full-season order comes more than a month before the show's Sept. 29 premiere date. NBC said they were pleased with the first six episodes in "Chuck's" second season and wanted to keep the momentum going.

In the series, Zachary Levi stars as Chuck Bartowski, an electronics store clerk who accidentally downloads government secrets into his brain -- and must now deal with assassins and terrorists. Adam Baldwin, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Sarah Lancaster and Ryan McPartlin co-star.

"America's Got Talent" comes from FremantleMedia North America and Simon Cowell's Syco shingle. The pickup comes as the show continues to gain viewers -- 13 million this summer, up 16% from last year.

Jerry Springer hosts the talent competition, which continues until Oct. 1; David Hasselhoff, Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan are judges.

As a back-up I have it recording on my second DVR, but that's on a crappy SDTV in my basement, where I don't watch much TV.

The first 2 episodes are scheduled for Saturday re-airings, PLUS the first ep is currently scheduled to rerun Sunday afternoon on Bravo.

And of course there's always NBC.com for online viewing.

I hate trying to watch episodes on-line. The quality is usually not great, and I can never stay focused. When I'm in front of my computer my attention span drops to near zero. So I bounce between checking email, surfing here, looking up stuff I want to buy on eBay, paying bills, etc.

Worst case I guess I have to spend an hour in my basement a week keeping up on Chuck.

The networks like abc, nbc and fox usually have very high quality videos on their site. cbs is the ugly stepchild in that regard, though I haven't tried using them in a while, considering all the bad experiences I had on their site.

Anyway, from the schedule it looks like NBC will be keeping the Saturday rerun for awhile, and if that does fall off, it's more than likely that Bravo will keep their rerun schedule going for the duration. They don't change their schedule much, so once something gets on there, it stays for a long time.

CBS.com cleaned up its act. The new player is pretty good.

Thank GOD because I missed NCIS on Tuesday and didn't record it.
