I should also add that I'm pretty sure I know how they got Sam Jackson to do it (other than the fact that he's in everything). But, why couldn't they make the effort to get the live-action folks to do the voices?

Maybe the actors just don't want to be tied down to the movie because there's a whole big series following it. It would probably be best to hire someone who is willing to reprise the role 23-plus times.

I'll give you that, but voice work takes very little time or effort on an actor's part. They go in, usually wearing their PJs, still, do the lines a couple times, then leave in time for lunch. Sometimes not even that late.

Whatever. I'll just consider them all heartless bastards (you know, moreso than I did before ).

I do not like the too precise, too casual, weightless way the Jedi swing about their sabers and deflect the blaster fire. They were already pretty precise and casual about it in the movies (precise because the blasts were drawn in a computer to make direct contact with the blade), but there was still a human-like looseness and weight to it all--even with Yoda. This looks more like the 2-D cartoon with the sabering, which is understandable. But for some reason, my mind balks a bit when it sees the same thing I saw in the 2-D cartoon rendered into CG.

Also, the mouths are distractingly Gerry Anderson-like (intentional, from what I have read), and Anakin and Obi-Wan feel like they have absolutely no rapport.

At least in this very short clip. (Point for Ipsy.)

To me the fight scene just looked like a cleaner, watered-down version of the fight on Geonosis.

I am aware that sabers theoretically shouldn't weigh much more than their handles (since the blade is more or less just energy), but the challenge of having to wield real, sword-like instruments with carbon rods extending some three feet past the hilt has made for cinematic sword play that looked more or less like traditional rapier play. Hence all the prequel twirling, which would be pretty difficult to do smoothly with nothing more than a hilt.

They are Jedi, I guess. If anyone can do anything smoothly with a saber, a Jedi can.

I'll be seing this movie when my 9 year old nephew comes to visit me on vacation net summer and insists on watching it, if he brought a copy with him from CT.

This thing looks God Awful. But strangely, looks like a better format for Lucas than the PT.

If Lucas had told me around the 10,000 leages under the sea sequence on Naboo, that this was really all meant to be a $100M cartoon for elementary school kids, it would have saved me a lot of time and energy.

How fucking miserable do they think we are, as Star Wars fans, that they actually push this fucking vomit on us and expect us to think it's "cool"?
