I disagree with the above, to a point.

I think, (hope), that even though this is a "kids" show, Asohka was added specifically to address the tension/pre-determined fate question. I think it totally makes sense to have her in the show, but that she will die at some point. Probably killed by Ventress, (also not referenced in the movies), who will then be killed by Obi-wan or Anakin, (didn't Anakin kill her in one of the Tarkovsky shorts??).

As for her not being referenced in the movies, that's easy to explain, there is no reason to reference a dead Jedi. Yes it probably pushes Anakin closer to the dark side, but I'm sure there are tons of other things that helped that but are never referenced in the movies.

I didn't like her in the movie, but she was better in the episode last Friday. And the more I think about it, (see above rambling), I like that they gave Anakin a padawan.

Yeah... I agree, I guess... but if she was important to Anakin, then you'd think they would, since they went to all the trouble to make a throw-away reference to the silliness on Caito Neimoidia in Sith, which is covered in Labryinth of Evil. And it IS silly... but they went to all the trouble to mention it.

Maybe the line came first, and the author of the book took it and ran with it, but still... Asohka seems like a REALLY important character.

Asohka was less annoying in the episode than in the movie. It's not as though she ever reaches Gurgi levels of annoyance, or anything.

And she wasn't mentioned because she hadn't been thought up, yet. We all know this. Continuity Hounds like to harp on this shit, for some reason. I guess it does them great personal damage to have to completely restructure their minds to allow for the possibility of change within an established SciFantasy canon.

If I remember correctly, Genndy's Asajj just fell a really long way into darkness, then Anakin does this hilariously dumb primal scream thing and that's that. We don't see her "die."

That fight predated anything in the current series, since Anakin still has his Padawan braid.

I haven't watched the animated film, nor am I that interested in watching the CG series. Frankly, I'm tired of Lucas revisiting the time period between EPs II and III. It's been done enough, and it loses its inventiveness when you redo the EXACT SAME set of events over and over.

I know -- you're all shocked, right? At a loss for words? Ulic, the biggest SW fan in history (that may or may not be hyperbole; you decide), isn't interested in a new SW series?!? That's not true! That's IMPOSSIBLE!!!



Well, it's true. I want George to invest some resources in further exploring the Knights of the Old Republic era (BioWare's not-so rumored KotOR MMO will partially address this when they make it official in two weeks), or open up the license to detail The Galaxy FAR in the future, well beyond the current Star Wars: Legacy comic series. I'd prefer live-action films, as unlikely as that may be. Barring that, however, it would be nice to see him devote as much time and energy into expanding what I call the "canon" SW mythos (The Skywalker Saga, KotOR, The Force Unleashed, and all ancillary material directly tied to the films) as he has formulating ideas for Indiana Jones V: The Final Affront.

A central part of this is the live-action TV series, which we haven't heard anything about in the past few months. I'm HOPING this means George is busy writing the scripts and laying down the plot.

Personally, I believe that Lucas will "feel that itch" again at some point, no matter how much he wants to argue that he's done with Star Wars (because, as he's shown, he isn't done with SW; not by a long shot). This doesn't necessarily mean that he'll direct another film. He could allow other talented filmmakers, showrunners, and writers to bring their talents to more big-budget productions.

I guess I want different actors to play the heroes, since they are all too old to reprise those roles (at the appropriate age for the series, I mean). CG sure as Hell isn't ready to fake a photo-realistic Solo.

I'm not talking about EU crap, nor even Zahn's excellent novels (which I know are part of the EU; just not the crappy majority). I want something more... high-profile.
