Looks like the idea of Catwoman is certainly in play. Someone here mentioned the good development of stroy from Rachel's death to Catwoman coming in, so that makes a lot of sense.

My main issue is that the bad guys so far have been "real" people. People that your might see on the news, for instance. But Catwoman, to me, was always more of a over the top type character. From the outfits, to the sex appeal.

Anyway, I'm sure they have a plan, if Catwoman is the way they are going. I'm just curious how they make her fit.

Oh yes, and Jolie in spandex will make me happy regardless, in contrast to my Red Sonia statement.

Still, how sexy she is and how much cleavage they show will NOT determine if the movie is good, or certainly a worthy follow up to TDK.

I keep hearing these complaints about Catwoman somehow not being "real" enough for Nolan's Bat-world, and it puzzles me. Was a guy who wears clown makeup not "real" enough for Nolan's film? Was a guy who gets half his face burned off to the point he walks around with bones and tendons showing not "real" enough for Nolan's film? Compared to Two-Face, Catwoman is ten times more "realistic," and that's just in visual terms. Her character is a *thief,* a world-class burglar. Don't let the massive tits artists like Adam Hughes have drawn on her fool you. There's really nothing to her character that wouldn't work in Nolan's Gotham.

Batman's on the run from the GCPD at the end of TDK. Selina Kyle is a woman who's often on the wrong side of the law in her Catwoman persona, and skirts the edges of villainy without ever becoming a villain herself. If anything, she's been perfectly set up for the third film, IMO. With Batman currently an outlaw, they could easily work a scenario where he crosses paths with Selina.

Speaking as one who has never picked up a Batman comic, I will say the notion of Catwoman as the villain for TDK 2 doesn't move my "interest" meter at all.

No one's suggesting Catwoman as THE villain for the next film, or even a villain. She could have a role to play as an anti-heroine, especially in light of Batman's status at the end of TDK. Some people are seeing Catwoman and thinking she's going to be the archvillain for the sequel. Those people need to calm down.

And the next film could have the Mad Hatter for a villain and still generate interest in all but the most jaded viewer, after the greatness of TDK. But it won't, so again, calm the frak down.

I have to agree with Ulic on this one. I don't think she would just play a straight main baddie in the movie. I do think that should could by used to manipulate Batman, etc.

I don't have a problem with it, and I probably won't. Nolan has earned my trust.

I still think Riddler is the best arch-villan for the third movie.

Clearly, you're doing your best to convince yourself that the Julie Newmar/Eartha Kitt/Lee Meriwether interpretations never existed.

Catwoman could only work if they went with the Filmation storyline where she impersonated Bat Girl and stole an invention that created any type of fabric out of garbage.

I'd honestly rather not have a "romantic" storyline in the next one.

If they had Catwoman as a non-romantic interest villain who didn't look silly, say silly things, or freaking purr she could work as a co-villain. But I don't have confidence in Hollywood allowing such a thing. By their standards she has to be sexy and Batman has to become "involved" with her.

You guys like lambasting Iron Man for being predictable, well that shit's as predictable as it gets.

And I still don't buy that Nolan is going to have Catwoman in his movie. If she's there, he's not, and the movie will be worse for it.

Nevermind that there's probably not even the hint of a script at this point.

Went to see it a third time, because my ex-roommate is in town and wanted to see it.

Upon careful consideration, I have decided I enjoy Iron Man more than I enjoy The Dark Knight. Ledger is amazingly awesome. If he were not in The Dark Knight, I would be bitching even more about the stuff (script, performances) I don't like.

It's like Abbey Road and Sgt Pepper's. I enjoy Abbey Road more as a whole, even though Sgt. Pepper's has some fine songs on it. Even if Sgt. Pepper's has the heart-stoppingly beautiful "A Day in the Life" on it. Most of the rest of the album is listenable-but-spotty at best, and downright dull at worst.

What I'm trying to say is that I am really, really glad The Dark Knight pulled that performance out of Ledger, and I think the scenes in between the Joker scenes are (generally) decent placeholders and lead-ins for Ledger's scenes. I find myself wanting to get up and leave as soon as the Joker's scenes are done.

Spoilers from here on out. Mycroft is the only one on the boards who has yet to see it, so he may be the only one who needs to avert his eyes.

Despite my frustrations with the script, we do get two nice things out of it. One of them--Alfred's allegory--hinges on performance. To catch the man who wanted to watch the world burn, they had to burn the world (forest) down. So the man got what he wanted.

The second thing--the Joker potentially getting what he wanted--ties into that, though it depends on how one interprets what happens to Dent. If he died as a result of Batman's push, then Batman was, indeed, made to break his one rule.

That's the whole point of this movie serving as a second act, and what makes it so great. Not unlike Luke losing his battle with Vader and nearly his life and friends for it.

I have to agree with you about the movie.. Not sure how good it is withour Ledger. You know how I feel about Iron Man, so I won't go there. I have always prefered the "darker" movie, so that's a big part of my preference for TDK. Also, I have always loved the kind of dialog one finds here, or in the Emperor's Throne Room in ROTJ, or swaths of LOTR.

But yes, Ledger really is the greatest thing on screen on 30 years.

If they go love-interest/villain route, I suggest Talia al-Ghul, Ra's daughter. Ra's has the ability to seemingly come back from the dead, and it would not be a surprise if he returned since his death was never really confirmed.
